But any who, we conquered several projects and the I am so excited to share all of them!
First off, we went to Lowes with every intention of building that console table. I mean I had the materials list, dimensions and plans ready but as we were walking to the paint/stains after loading all of the lumber we passed by the console table/lamp set that yes, has been haunting me... Yes, the one we originally bought several months ago and.... returned... Don't judge! lol
But anyways, after another 20 minutes of talking and number crunching we decided that the table/lamp set was just too good of a deal to pass up and that in the end it would end up costing us the same (if not more) to build one. So it was final! We bought the console table (again!) but this time walked out feeling much more confident and happy! We got home and put it together and hated it... :::: SCREECHING TIRE SOUND:::::
Just kidding! hehe We loved it! I got it all decorated and turned on the lamp and it was literally love at first sight! It was one of those decorating triumphs that I automatically saw us decorating it for every holiday! Don't you just love it when that happens!?! Here is a picture:
We weren't done there though! Which my husband is probably laughing as we speak because once I get started decorating I can't stop. I start with redecorating a shelf and end up recruiting him to rearrange the whole house! hehe
Anyways, the console table/ lamp set came with two lamps and since I only wanted one lamp for the foyer, I put the other lamp out on the back patio:
See our patio is pretty much a part of the house as it is just an indention (which could be a great way to add extra square footage in the future) but because of this, it has a feel of still being inside even though you are outside so what better way to add to this feel then by bringing some indoor lighting outside.
We actually got the idea from Robby's father who has decorated his outdoor patio to look like it is an extension to the rest of the house. It makes for such a welcoming and warm atmosphere being out there and even though we are working on a much smaller scale, it feels good to capture that feeling at our house now as well.
Then, while I was sitting out there reveling in the new ambiance of our back patio, I started thinking, and I came up with this wonderful idea for a bird feeder! See, I had this old iron volitive candle holder that was missing a couple of the glass cups. So, since I really wasn’t using it inside why not bring it outside and use it to feed some of the local birdies. Fingers crossed we get some cardinals!
Here is the picture before I went and got the seed:
Hope ya'll enjoyed seeing these projects as much as I enjoyed doing them. I have a couple more things up my sleeve and will be sure to share as I finish them. I am huge believer that "Idle hands are the devil's tools" and I am just so thankful to be able to afford to do projects around the house and have a husband who honestly enjoys doing them as much as I do! Have a wonderful Tuesday!
