Cheers to 4:30 pm
Let's be honest, there are days out there that we just go home thinking "Holy Cow! I just survived another day and I think that in itself, is cause for celebration!" Well, the new Toby Keith song came on the radio at work and usually I am not a fan of TK but his song "Drinks After Work" is quite catchy and happens to be my inspiration for today! Here are a couple of delicious looking recipes that I just might have to try after 4:30 pm...

Father's Day
So, this weekend is Father's Day and I wish that I could say that I will be spending it with my dad but unfortunately he has to work so plans have changed (boo) but we will be making a trip up next weekend! Now, with that being said, I still wanted to just take the time today to do a little post dedicated to my dad!
He is my rock and I know that no matter what, I can always call him (even at 2am) and he will be there for me! He is the sole person that raised me and was my best friend and superhero growing up. He taught me to be strong and independent and always made it a point to tell me that the sky is the limit for me. He raised me from a young age to know my value and to never let anyone tell me different! Now, even though over the years, he has at times, tended to over-exaggerate his "battle wounds" (inside joke) he still is one of the strongest people in my life!
Thank you for everything and I love you Daddy!
So, if you have a father like mine (who is truly a child at heart) here are a few examples of great Father's Day gifts to give him! (no ties included)

DIY: It's GOOOLD!
"It's GOOOLD!" Well, at least everything about this blog post is... Now, I don't know about you but I am a firm believer that by just adding some gold trim or a few polka-dots to an otherwise boring and plain plate or glass can totally transform it! Now, really this concept can be used on so many different projects but I just picked a couple of my favs in which I plan on sharing! These chic AND easy DIY projects are a must-do for me the summer break!
Now, most of these are pretty self-explanatory so I am going to just post pictures but for the others that are "not-so common sense" I will include directions.... Enjoy!
Start by tracing your mousepad onto the backside of your suede, and cutting it out. Set that aside. Punch holes in your freezer paper and cut a small square around each hole. Place them strategically on the front side of your suede, and iron them shiny side down so that they stick.
Next, use a paintbrush to paint ModPodge inside of each hole. While it’s wet, apply a small patch of gold leaf. Pat the gold leaf down with a dry paintbrush.
Let the ModPodge dry for about 30 minutes and carefully remove the freezer paper, being careful to keep the edges of the polka dot intact. Let the glue dry overnight before you use the mousepad, and be sure to dust off all remnants of the gold leaf, to keep your mouse safe.
Finally, cover the back of the suede with spray adhesive and affix it to your old mousepad. Be sure that you match the edges well before you press firmly.
Woah! So much better. And now it’s like a little polka dot party every time I use my computer.

Glass Vase
Or how about with a round glass...
This is the one I plan on doing! :D
Mouse Pad-
Gather your materials:
- old mousepad
- enough suede (or leather, or faux leather — you get the idea) to cover the mousepad
- scissors
- pen
- freezer paper
- hole punch
- iron
- ModPodge
- gold leaf
- two craft paintbrushes
- spray adhesive

Wall Art-
Or you can just find gold stickers if you really want to get simple...
Mr.'s Style
Uh, I am smitten with these pictures! I have to admit that I kind of need some help with more masculine decorating designs and these pictures were right up my alley for inspiration! A couple of days ago, I was doing our weekly deep cleaning spree on our bedroom and looked at my husband's night stand which was quite bare... I decided that I had to do something about it so there I went... on a mission.... opening drawers, closets and boxes looking for some masculine things to put on a silver tray that I had not been using! Well, after much searching, I was able to scrounge up a few masculine pieces to showcase but these pictures make me feel like I desperately need to take it up a notch!... and start buying him a lot more cologne! STAT!
Brings a whole new meaning to manscaping, right?

On a Millionaire's Tab
Ok, I have to vent... There is nothing more frustrating than following a fellow blogger and clicking on one of their links in an attempt to obtain their stylish motiph all to find out the seemingly modist piece of fabric is located at a store that does not have a dress under $500.00 ... $500!?! Ya, who has $500 to spend on one dress... ONE DRESS!?! I know I sure as heck don't and even if I did I can think of so many other things that I could spend $500 on than one dress. I just want to know where is the blogger out there that has impecable style on a budget... Anyone can look absolutely fabulous on a millionaire's tab but it's the "girl next door" that shops at Target and Marshall's that deserves to have a fashion blog. It is work to look adorable and chic on a budget! The job includes lots of man hours and coat-rack after coat-racks being conquered! (I know!)...
But with that being said I am still obsessed with these outfits by Lilly Pulitzer... They may not be $500 but they are still over my budget! :::sigh::: Oh, can these outfits be anymore summer?!? I think not! So bright! So colorful! Oh, I love so much! Sell my first unborn child???... No, No, that would be rediculous... right??? haha (totally kidding)
These are gorgeous pieces of clothing though, aren't they?

"tu me manques"
Ok, Ok, I have missed you all so much! I am sorry I became M.I.A. but I have a good excuse for it and some really exciting news that I must share...
Back on January 20th, we went to church like just about every other Sunday but little did I know that the sermon was going to literally speak to my heart and light a fire underneath me.
As, you all know, 2012 was honestly a very hard year for me, career-wise. I was really just not happy and felt like I was wasting precious time in a dead-end situation. I felt stuck and unappreciated; the worst combination if you ask me. I walked into that church a scared, little girl about what was ahead of me and walked out a woman on a mission with my future at my fingertips!
The sermon series was about listening to your heart's true desires and what God has bred you for. How the Lord puts certain desires in your heart that usually line up with your natural gifts and talents and how they tend to follow you through your life.
I sat there in that chair and started thinking about what is something that I have always been interested in and could genuinely have a knack for... That is when I literally heard my heart say... Houses! I have always just had this interest in the housing market and could go on and on giving examples of the different signs over the years that have pointed to this being what I need to do.
Two days later, I was online signing up for my first real estate class. I decided that this year would not be just another year "wasted". I had been praying for direction and at that moment I felt like I got it. I have spent the last six months working full time and going to school (doesn't leave much free time). I finally finished my classes at the end of May and just this past Saturday, after obsessively studying as much as I could, I took the state exam and passed! My hardwork paid off and I am now officially a licensed real estate agent of the great state of Texas. Pretty exciting right!?! But what is even more exciting is that now that my free-time is not being solely taken up by real estate terms & definitions or state laws I can chat with you all more! Yippeee!
So, with all that being said, I just want to say thank you to all of you for sticking by me and being so supportive! I really do have the best people in my life right now and I am truely blessed to have all of you!
